IRA Rollover
Make a Gift From Your IRA
Use Your IRA to Make an Impact Today
If you’re age 70½ or older, you have a powerful opportunity to support Gateway Mission and reduce your taxable income—all while providing shelter, meals, and life-changing care for men, women, and children experiencing homelessness in West Michigan.
What Is an IRA Charitable Rollover?
An IRA charitable rollover (also called a Qualified Charitable Distribution, or QCD) allows you to transfer funds directly from your IRA to a qualified nonprofit organization like Gateway Mission—without incurring income taxes on the withdrawal.
Benefits of an IRA Charitable Rollover
- Avoid taxes on up to $108,000 in IRA transfers per year ($100,000 individual / $200,000 joint, indexed for inflation)
- Satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) if you are age 73 or older
- Lower your taxable income even if you don’t itemize deductions
- Make a meaningful gift without affecting your cash flow
- Further the mission of Gateway Mission with a tax-wise contribution
How It Works
- Contact your IRA plan administrator and request a direct transfer to Gateway Mission.
- Use our official name and address (provided below) to complete the transaction.
- Notify us of your gift so we can acknowledge your generosity and ensure it is directed according to your wishes.
Please note: IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction but may reduce your overall taxable income.
